Margaret L. Baker (“Maggie”)
Margaret graduated with a B.A. from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas after attending college on a National Merit Scholarship. She then attended the 5th ranked law school in the country, New York University, where she graduated cum laude. Following law school, she was employed as a staff attorney by the Legal Aid Society in Brooklyn, NY from 1996 until 2003. During her employment there she received the Thurgood Marshall award for her pro bono work with death row inmates. Later in her career, she helped develop and staff one of the first felony-level mental health courts in the nation and specialized in defending those with a serious mental illness charged with crimes. In 2003, she was admitted to the bar of the State of Colorado after relocating to the Denver region. After founding her practice here, her services quickly became in demand not just in criminal cases but also in other areas of the law where strong advocacy was required. She has tried numerous cases, including both “high-stake” and “high-profile” cases, but believes that each and every case is important, because it is important to the client. Some cases must go to trial, but many do not. Still, it important to know that your lawyer can and will advocate for you before a judge and jury.
